COVID-19: Still a Part of Business in 2021

January 7th, 2021 by Ciara Ryan

As we start a new year we can reflect on the previous one. The year 2020 was hard for many people, organizations, and businesses, the COVID-19 virus seemed to appear from thin air and changed the lives of Canadians forever.

Last March, when the lockdowns started, our team here at Almaguin Community Economic Development immediately began working to gather and communicate information and resources aimed at supporting our businesses.

We laid out the latest news updates, best practices, resources, grant/funding programs that businesses needed to be aware of in order to navigate this new world. We worked with our partners such as Almaguin Highlands Chamber of Commerce, and NECO to provide innovative programs to support businesses here in Almaguin including the Almaguin Protective Equipment Program (APEP) and the Almaguin Digital Advancement Program (ADAP) support programs.

In addition, with support from Almaguin Highlands Chamber of Commerce, and Parry Sound Muskoka Community Network – PMCN. We linked residents and small businesses to offer local shopping using delivery subsidies through the Almaguin Delivers Program.

We now look to 2021 and while the virus remains, we hope we can continue to adapt and work together as a community in order to continue supporting our Almaguin businesses.

We consistently update the COVID-19 Best Practices and Resources for Businesses webpage for business owners, staff, and municipalities to keep track of new information as it comes out.

If you have questions regarding business support during these times please reach out to our Director of Community Economic Development, Dave Gray at director@investalmaguin.ca
