Magnetawan River
The Magnetawan River played a crucial role in the settlement and growth of Burk’s Falls and surrounding area. Retrace the steps of our forefathers – start at the Burk’s Falls Welcome Centre and walk over the covered foot bridge along the Heritage River Walk Trail (Check out the Heirtage River walk APP for IOS and Android). Launch your boat at the docks and enjoy a ride on over 40Km of calm, navigable waters and through 3 lakes (Midlothian, Cecebe and Ahmic).

Burk’s Falls & Area Bike Routes
The Almaguin Highlands welcomes cyclists! The road cycling routes listed below have been hand picked by the local Almaguin in Motion (AIM) cycling group. Most of these routes feature good quality pavement, and a fairly low traffic – which lets you enjoy the region safely and at your own pace. Make sure to keep an eye on the Strava cycling app for time trial segments – some of the local experts are looking for new challengers! Make sure to review the ride descriptions in the links below – they will tell you if the ride has gravel or is fully paved.
AIM Triangle

The AIM Triangle is the signature route for the Almaguin in Motion (AIM) recreational cycling group. This route features a blend of secondary provincial highways and low traffic, paved municipal roads.
Sand Lake Loop

The Sand Lake Loop (AKA George’s Loop) almost nudges up against the back country entrance to Algonquin Park. This route contains approximately 4KM of gravel.
Burk's Falls to Parry Sound Loop

The Burk’s Falls to Parry Sound Loop is perfect for an ambitious one day ride, or more comfortable overnight ride with a stop over in Parry Sound on Georgian Bay. Special attention should be given along highway 518 due to winding sections and poor sight lines.

The Burk’s Falls – Katrine Mini Loop is a perfect way to check out the Burk’s Falls Area and take in two villages in an afternoon. This ride is great for a family afternoon ride, or a quick workout for cycling enthusiasts.
